Josh McCarter co-founded scheduling platform Booker in 2010. Since then, the New York-based startup - known for its software tools that allow small businesses to reserve and manage appointments - has achieved quite a bit.
Two months ago, it expanded across the San Francisco Bay Area via an acquisition, and has gone on to offer its service across 73 countries. So far, Booker raised a total of $77 million in venture funding from a variety of backers, including Bain Capital Ventures, First Data, Grotech Ventures, Jump Capital, Medina Capita, Revolution Ventures and Signal Peak.
Until four months ago, McCarter - the former president and COO of Arbitech - was guiding the company from California. Now, he is a full-fledged New York City CEO. To mark his arrival here in Silicon Alley, the New York Business Journal caught up McCarter to find out how he's adjusting to his new home and what he's learned along the way.
