11/11/2009 - Arbitech Sponsors “Team Charli's Angels” in the Orange County Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) Walk for a Cure
Arbitech, LLC, the nation’s leading independent computer hardware distributor, continued its tradition of supporting children focused charities by being the lead sponsor of “Team Charli’s Angels” in the JDRF’s Walk for a Cure on Sunday, November 8, 2009. With Arbitech’s financial support and a strong showing from the company’s employees at the Walk, Team Charli’s Angels was one of the largest teams in attendance and raised over $25,000. Joining Arbitech to sponsor the team was Union Bank, UPS, Shaw & Son’s Concrete, Synchronicity Marketing, Silpada Designs, and local OC restaurants, Port and Mesa.
“Arbitech’s involvement in the JDRF Walk for a Cure contributed to making this an inspiring event for everyone on Team Charli’s Angels,” said Josh McCarter, Arbitech’s president. “The strong show of support for Charli helps her to feel comforted that many are contributing to finding a cure for Type 1 Diabetes, which she was diagnosed with this year.”
The Walk for a Cure is the JDRF’s largest annual fundraiser, spanning multiple countries and over 200 locations. The Walk has consistently raised over $100M to find a cure for diabetes and its complications. In 2007, the JDRF funded $137M worth of projects, centers, grants and fellowships, largely focused on Type 1 Diabetes (T1D), an auto immune disease that kills cells in the pancreas which produce insulin. Each year 15,000 kids are diagnosed with T1D and become dependent on multiple insulin injections per day to properly digest their food and control their glucose levels.
