04/30/2009 - Former eBay CEO, Meg Whitman, Visits Arbitech
Arbitech welcomed gubernatorial candidate and former CEO, Meg Whitman on April 30, 2009 at Arbitech’s headquarters in Irvine. In 2009, Whitman left eBay to persue her interest in politics, serving as senior advisor in the campaign of Governor Mitt Romney and Senator John McCain’s ‘08 presidential run. Whitman will run for California governor in the 2010 election.
Discussing a focus of jobs creation in California with the Arbitech team, Whitman highlighted the importance of our state becoming more competitive and attractive for businesses to locate to Califorina. She believes California can rededicate itself to being an incubator for entrepreneurship and innovation and feels the best way to achieve this is by lifting the tax burdens on businesses and technologically revamping government.
“It was educational discussing California’s competitiveness with Mrs. Whitman and learning more about why we are falling behind. Eighty percent of our economy consists of small businesses like Arbitech. It will be interesting to see how California’s entrepreneurial spirit continues to conquer these challenging times,” said Torin Pavia, Arbitech’s CEO.
