05/02/2005 - Arbitech Announces Torin Pavia Recipient of USC Alumni Entrepreneur of the Year
LAGUNA BEACH, CA−Arbitech, LLC, the nation’s leading independent computer hardware distributor, announced today that Torin Pavia, the Chairman, CEO and founder of Arbitech, was recently honored as the University of Southern California’s 2005 Alumni Entrepreneur of the Year.
Past USC alumni honorees include Paul Orfalea, founder of Kinko’s; Lloyd Greif, The Greif Co., for whom the USC Entrepreneurial School is now named; and Mark Benioff, founder of Salesforce.com.
Pavia earned his MBA from USC’s Marshall School of Business with an emphasis on entrepreneurial studies. While at USC, he designed and developed Arbitech’s business plan, pioneering a new distribution model for selling computer hardware that still remains the foundation of the company’s achievements. Arbitech now serves many of the largest resellers and system integrators in the world.
“USC has helped tremendously in the development of the character of Arbitech and in its success,” said Pavia.
Since its inception in August 2000, the company’s annual growth has averaged 30%-40% consistently, with a forecast for 2005 of $150 million in sales. In 2004, Arbitech was honored by Entrepreneur Magazine’s HOT 100 edition as the Fastest Growing Privately Owned New Business in America, while holding down the number two position in 2002 and 2003.
“Sixty percent of our sales force has advanced degrees of either PhD, JD or MBA, and five of those MBAs have come from USC. Arbitech has reaped the rewards of USC’s successful program by having some recent MBA grad students doing an independent study to further develop facets of the company’s online presence,” said Pavia.
